Our Gym takes the safety of our students very seriously. All of our employees are background checked. All of our coaches are background checked through USAG. All of our DayCamp employees are background checked through the Arkansas DHS. Many have both. These background checks are at the county level, state level, and national level. We want to keep your children safe.

Sheryl Zimmerman, Owner of Huff ‘n Puff Fitness, Dance and Gymnastics Center, Inc. moved to this area with Air Force husband and three children in July, 1979.
Ms. Sheryl started the business in early 1980s and the current building was built in 1984. In 2009, Ms. Sheryl and Ms. Laurel doubled the size of the building.
Ms. Sheryl has created a legacy for our community.
Ms. Laurel Zimmerman Adams, Managing Partner of Huff ‘n Puff and its programs, is also head gymnastics team coach. Laurel has been associated with Huff ‘n Puff from its beginning in 1980. She began taking dance and gymnastics at age three and became a serious student of dance and gymnastics at age ten with the opening of Huff 'n Puff. Ms. Laurel began teaching dance at a very young age. Her background in dance comes from many years of study with well-known Arkansas instructors, through studio classes, college courses and private lessons. She also began teaching gymnastics at Huff 'n Puff at age 14.
Ms. Laurel and her family returned to Arkansas in 1996 so she could once again be a part of the business. She is a member of the professional USA Gymnastics Federation, is safety certified by USAG and is a USAG Skill Evaluator; she has also been a USAG Junior Olympic Judge. She also completed her Kinder Accreditation, a preschool gymnastics certification. She teaches advanced gymnastics and prepares the more advanced students for competitions. In 1998, she began the Jacksonville Gymnastics Competitive Team with eleven Level Four members. This summer our competitive team, Levels Two through Nine, numbers nearly 90 competitors, and has had several state championships to its credit.
Laurel has an associate degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute in Dallas and an associate degree in Business Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. Besides managing the business, she also does screen-printing, embroidery and jewel work on the program attire for the students and parents (in her spare time) at home.
Laurel is the daughter of Sheryl Zimmerman and mother to 23-year old Tori, who is a senior at UALR and who has been a a staff member here at HnP for the past several years; and to 19-year old Madi, who did gymnastics for sixteen years at HnP and was a Level Nine gymnast with the Jax Gym competitive team when she graduated from high school. Madi is now a freshman at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Ms. Laurel is also grandmother to Tori's son Wryatt who was born in mid-June.

Mrs. Lois is our Director of Dance and Director of the Jacksonville Dance Company (JDC). Mrs. Lois is well qualified for this position as she trained in dance, gymnastics and cheerleading at Huff ‘n Puff as she grew up through junior and senior high school and has been a part of the Huff ‘n Puff family for many years. Mrs. Lois took dance for thirteen years with the last eight of those years being at Huff 'n Puff. Her four years of gymnastics were taken at Huff 'n Puff and she was on Mrs. Laurel's first competitive team, as well as the original competitive dance company. Mrs. Lois cheered for five years and won TOP All-American Cheerleader in the 10th grade. She also cheered for the Universal Cheer Association in 2004, traveling to five or six nearby states to instruct cheerleading camps for junior high and high school squads. Mrs. Lois currently works at Arkansas Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as a RN and has done so for the past 8 years. She will continue to work full time at the hospital while instructing JDC for Huff 'n Puff. She really enjoys teaching dance and especially working with the Jacksonville Dance Company dancers. Mrs. Lois has also done talent choreography for young ladies who participate in pageants, all of them have been winners! She is newly married to Grant Overholser and they have two beautiful daughters, Lily and Lianna, who are on our competitive gymnastics team and on our Mini Dance Company. We are so excited and happy that she, and her family, is with the JAX Dance Company and Huff ‘n Puff.
Director of Dance
Madison is a USAG Safety Certified Instructor that has been involved with JaxGym since 2008. She competed as an athlete in both Artistic Gymnastics and T&T. She started gymnastics at the age of seven at Huff 'n Puff. She competed Artistic Gymnastics until Level Five and then she switched to T&T. She quickly fell in love with the sport and started competing at Level 6 in 2015. She went to Nationals for Level 7 and placed 11th in the Nation. During her junior year of high school, she start volunteering with our recreational classes while also cheering at Abundant Life High School. She then started working with our Competitive T&T Team and teaching all recreation classes this past summer. After graduating high school, she started college at UCA to study physical therapy. She plans on being a pediatric physical therapist. She says that coaching has made her realize that she wants to work with kids in her career.
